Mean Girls: The Musical, based on the hit movie by Tina Fey, is all about friendship, loyalty, girl power, and the importance of remaining true to oneself. The story unfolds at North Shore High School in Chicago, where new girl Cady Heron is eager to fit in and make friends. She soon befriends Janis and Damian, who help her navigate the complex social landscape of being a teenager in high school. Together, they hatch a plan for Cady to “infiltrate” the elite group known as the Plastics, led by their Queen Bee, Regina George, in order to bring an end to Regina’s reign. As a member of the Plastics, Cady gradually loses touch with who she really is, distancing herself from Janis, Damian, and even her crush. Cady’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the consequences that come with choosing popularity over loyalty and self-respect, and the importance of being true to oneself, no matter what.
