The Producers

Book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan           Music and Lyrics by Mel Brooks

Directed by Bill Ware
Vocal Direction by Vance Corum
Choreography by Keely Cobb
Music Direction by Branden McKinnon

How Do You Create a Flop on Broadway?

Well, If you’re Mel Brooks, you start with a scheming con man (Max Bialystock), add in a mousy accountant (Leo Bloom), then introduce them to a pigeon-loving Nazi and his script for a gloriously offensive musical, “Springtime for Hitler,"  and finally, sprinkle in an eager blonde bombshell!  It’s a recipe for failure. But in this laugh-out-loud comedy, unexpected success throws Max and Leo into a downward spiral, with unexpected consequences.  Crazy caricatures and camp spectacle come together to produce a wonderfully tasteless evening of entertainment. The in-your-face humor includes high-kicking stormtroopers, a flock of pigeons, hand puppets, and little old ladies dancing with walkers.
It’s sure to be a flop! We mean, hit!
Beware: this show is not for the weak of heart, (or for youth under 16; discretion advised).

Robert Z. Hawkins Amphitheater,

Gates open at 6:45 pm
Show starts at 7:30 pm

All online ticket sales end at 6:00pm the day of the performance. Unsold seats will be available for purchase at the Amphitheater box office before the show up until 7:20pm, but we cannot guarantee availability; we do sell out, so purchase in advance!

Duration: This performance is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes,  with one 15-minute intermission.
Latecomers may be held at the gate before being able to enter, while the actors use the walkways and side entrances to start the show.

Rain delay or cancellation:

The show may go on in light rain, please plan and dress for the weather - bring an umbrella, poncho, etc.  In the event a performance is rescheduled due to weather, every attempt will be made to honor that evening's ticket at another performance.  Should there be rain prior to the start of the show or during, we may hold for up to 30 minutes. If the rain stops, the performance will go on.  If the rain continues, the show will be cancelled,  and patrons will be offered rain checks. There are no refunds due to weather.  Please note this is a general  policy; we reserve the right to alter this policy as necessary.  If a show is cancelled ahead of time, we will post on Facebook  between 6:30 and 7:30 - so if you are unsure by the time you have to leave to get to the theater, come to the theater or watch our Facebook page! We will not be able to take phone calls  60-90 minutes prior to showtime!

For VIP ticket holders: You must arrive no later than 7:15 to be guaranteed your reserved parking spot! Drive up to the parking lot by the theater, and a  parking attendant will help you. They will ask to see your mobile ticket before letting you in to the VIP parking. If you don't have your ticket, give them your name!
How to get tickets: Clicking on the "Tickets-Order Online" icon  will take you to our ticketing platform,  where you will see an active seating chart and be able to choose your seats, then pay by credit card or other method of payment. (Please note: Pick your seats by selecting the seat on the seating map. It is much easier to choose your seats if you are not using a mobile device.)
If you are planning on buying or picking up tickets at the theater box office, we recommend you arrive at least 15 minutes early. We don’t want you to miss a minute of the show - it will start at 7:30! If you forget to bring your ticket or can't find it on your phone, don't worry! We've got you covered! Just visit us at the box office and show your photo ID or give your name to the ticket usher. We will have a master list of all ticket holders.

Tickets and Sales Policies/Details

Refunds: All sales are final and non-refundable. However, if a show is cancelled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, tickets may be exchanged for an alternate performance date or refunded through our ticket service. In the event of wildfire smoke, our experience has been that the smoke is often worse during the day, but the evenings usually clear, especially at Bartley Ranch Regional Park.  We hesitate to cancel early! If it looks like it's clearing, we wait to the last minute, as late as 6pm. Watch our Facebook page for  cancellation updates.  We reserve the right to have a 30-minute rain or smoke delay for any performance before continuing the show. Exchanges are subject to availability and restrictions may apply.

Children and lap sitters: As a courtesy to everyone in our audience, we ask that you keep children seated and out of the aisles during the performance. Children 2 years of age and younger may sit on an adult's lap in a Gallery or Upper Side reserved seat (not Premium or VIP) without having to purchase a ticket. (We don't recommend bringing young children to The Producers.)
Trouble getting tickets? If you have trouble with the ticketing process, please call the box office at 775-852-7740.  If you don't get a response, then email us directly at [email protected] and your email will be answered shortly - promise! It may take us longer to respond to messages left on the SSPA  voicemail (775-852-7740), because we are in rehearsal!

Concessions/Food

Sierra School of Performing Arts will be selling a variety of snacks along with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including canned cocktails, wine and beer. Profits from the SSPA concessions table go directly back to our theater production and education programs. There will not be any food or dessert trucks this year.  You are always welcome to bring your own picnic (no glass, please) or bring a grab n' go dinner from one of the many nearby restaurants. Wildfire Smoke

The health and safety of our patrons, artists, staff, and volunteers are our top priority.
We will closely monitor the impact of smoke from regional wild/forest fires on the air quality near Bartley Ranch via a designated, Air Quality Index (AQI) PurpleAir sensor and other similar sensors throughout our region. In addition to monitoring real time measurements, we also track AQI trends over time. If AQI levels consistently trend to reach hazardous levels, we will begin to explore a performance cancellation. If a performance cancellation is necessary, we will communicate with potential patrons via social media in the late afternoon of a performance day - as late as 6:30 PM.
