Hold on to your hats as we transport you back to the 1930's with this charming tale of gamblers, dancers and colorful characters of the New York underworld. This musical romantic comedy will have you smiling until your face hurts. The romance revolves around the unlikeliest of Manhattan pairings: a high-rolling gambler wooing a puritanical missionary, and a showgirl dreaming of a straight-and-narrow future with a crap game manager who is anything but. You'll be tapping your feet to the irresistibly catchy music of Broadway classics like “Luck Be a Lady”, “I’ve Never Been in Love Before”, “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat”, and “If I Were a Bell.”

Despite almost a year of negotiation with Artown regarding the transfer of the Lear Theater, we are disappointed to report that we have reached an impasse with Artown concerning the purchase of the building.
SSPA’s long term strategic plan still includes the goal of acquiring or building a mid-sized, centrally located theater to grow our programs. Unfortunately, it now appears that venue will not be the Lear Theater. As we move forward with our long-term growth, we will continue to look for a space where we can create a new destination for performing arts in the Truckee Meadows.
SSPA wishes to thank the dedicated professionals on our development team who devoted many, many hours to create a viable project. We also are grateful to everyone in the theater community and beyond who expressed their support for our effort to transform the Lear Theater into the community asset it deserves to be. Stay tuned to this space for more information on all SSPA projects as we continue to grow our productions, classes and camps.
Make your spring break a time for laughing, learning and SINGING! This new camp features songs from popular Broadway shows both classic and new, with a decidedly country twang. Our experienced teachers combine singing, dancing, acting, theater games, improv and more! You'll be singing and dancing in musical numbers from some of Broadway's biggest shows: Once, 9-5, Waitress, Memphis, Beautiful, and Million Dollar Quartet. Camp will culminate with a performance for family and friends, and awards ceremony that pays homage to Nashville's famed Grand Ole Opry.
